What is the cost of EMDR Intensives?

Contact us for cost of Intensive EMDR sessions. Intensive sessions are a good option for individuals who plan to return to their ongoing therapist and want a short-term, focused treatment. Individuals who have limited time due to travel/work may also be a good match with this option. Please inquire about Intensive EMDR sessions to learn more.

Payments

Accepted payments include cash, checks, and credit cards. Payments are made at the time of service. I keep a current card on file for late cancellations.

Can we work together without going through insurance?

Yes. I regularly see clients who do not use an insurance provider.

Insurance - PPO Plans

If you have a PPO plan through your insurance and want to use it to cover therapy fees, I am happy to provide a receipt for "out of network" services (a superbill).  Please check your coverage by asking your insurance carrier if you have a PPO plan with out-of-network mental health benefits.  Services may be covered in full or in part by your health insurance. It would be wise to know the following information before beginning therapy:

  • What is my deductible and how close am I to meeting that deductible?
  • How much is covered by my insurance per therapy session?

Good faith estimate

You have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your mental health care will cost. Under a new law, health care providers need to give patients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the expected charges for medical services, including psychotherapy services. You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency healthcare services, including psychotherapy services. You can ask your health care provider, and any other provider you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule a service. If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill. For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises.

Do you accept specific insurance?

I see clients who have PPO plans through their insurance. I am considered an "out-of-network" provider.  As such, I do not work with insurance companies directly.  As the client, you would pay your fee at each session. Periodically, I will provide you with a summary - a super bill - detailing the diagnosis, session dates, and fees paid.  You then submit that super bill to your insurance for your reimbursement.

Helpful questions to ask your insurance provider:

  • Do I have mental health insurance benefits?
  • Do I have a PPO plan and am I able to select a therapist of my choice?
  • What is my deductible and how close am I to meeting that deductible?
  • How much is covered by my insurance per therapy session?

Will therapy be confidential?

Yes, therapy is confidential. I take extra precautions to guard your privacy and confidentiality. You can trust that your information will not be shared with anyone without your written permission.

That being said, the state of California has certain legal  limitations to confidentiality - these are designed to protect your safety and the safety of others. You will find these exceptions to confidentiality detailed in our office policies, and they include 1)  reporting suspected child abuse, elder abuse, or dependent abuse or  neglect 2) reporting any serious threat to harm another or yourself 3)  reporting child pornography 4) if a judge requires my testimony or your  records through a subpoena.

Separate from those situations listed above, you don't have to worry about anyone finding out what you're sharing in therapy.

How long will I be in therapy?

We will set goals at the beginning of treatment based on your needs, and we will periodically check on progress towards those goals. Therapy ends when you feel you've met your intended goals.

Clients may feel some emotional relief after 6 to 10 sessions, but addressing complex issues and deeper challenges will need more time.

What can I expect with teletherapy?

Teletherapy (aka video therapy or online therapy) offers the same therapeutic service as face-to-face sessions, with added convenience. Currently, my practice is only providing teletherapy. EMDR Intensives are offered in-person in Atwater Village in Los Angeles.

Note: Teletherapy is available to all residents of California.
